Low-Level Laser Therapy May Reduce Incidence of Postherpetic Neuralgia

Laser therapy is an excellent treatment for postherpetic neuralgia. However it is even more effective when the case of shingles is actually occurring. Using laser therapy during an active case of shingles will destroy the herpes virus, stop the pain, exponentially improve the healing of the rash, and in most cases prevents the development of postherpetic neuralgia. So the key is to treat the condition early on.

In our practice we treat many cases of shingles with laser therapy. 

The results are nearly 100% in acute cases of shingles. In cases of postherpetic neuralgia the results are still very good.

Incidentally, cold sores respond to laser therapy just as shingles do. So at the onset of a cold sore, or acute shingles, schedule an appointment right away.
