Cold Laser Therapy is used to help heal wounds and to treat many types of musculoskeletal injuries, and disorders including back pain caused by lower back strain, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, etc.
It has been used in Dr. Denny's practices for over 30 years years. Cold lasers operate at very low levels of power. The device is simply held over or against the skin. Cold lasers do emit light which appears red which penetrates deeply into the tissues stimulating acupoints, promoting healing, reducing inflammation, and reducing pain. The light energy is absorbed and converted to biochemical energy, which stimulates the acupoints and tissue cells which speeds healing. In our practice we have several cold laser devices in addition to the MLS laser robot.
High Intensity Laser Therapy: No other practice offers as many laser therapy options as ours. Our newest addition is the High Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT). High Intensity Laser Therapy is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive, drug-free therapy that does more than just treat the symptoms of chronic pain, it actually promotes healing. HILT delivers a soothing, healing light energy to the root of the pain and is unique in its ability to penetrate through bone, soft tissues, and muscle to treat tissues at the cellular level. It is successful when other laser therapies have failed. HILT produces a very high level of power to deeply penetrate the tissues, higher than any other laser in our practice, and uses the most extensively researched wavelength of infrared light energy.
HILT, like the MLS laser, is a Class IV therapeutic laser which offers many benefits to those suffering from chronic pain. HILT can:
- Reduce pain
- Minimize swelling
- Soften scar tissue
- Speed healing
- Increases blood flow
- Increase metabolic activity
There are no known side effects to laser therapy. We are able to use these device to treat both acute and chronic pain. The benefits appear to be cumulative; therefore it may take several treatments for the results to become apparent.
Total number of treatments varies, depending on what’s being treated, and response to treatment varies from patient to patient. To view research on laser therapy click here for the Laser Research Library. Laser therapy is widely practiced throughout Europe and Asia.
