This is a great piece from the Academy of Integrative Pain Management, formerly known as the American Academy of Pain Management. There are many issues facing more than 100 million American chronic pain sufferers.

Why do we have so many barriers to conservative multi-disciplinary medical care? Why do we continue to create legions of opiod users, or perform surgeries for pain, which can oftentimes have poor outcomes. As I often say, “the health insurance will pay for your bypass surgery, but they won’t pay for an office visit to teach you how to eat healthy.” It really is ridiculous.
